Cells for Life processes all samples in our cGMP laboratory. Cells for Life is Health Canada inspected and compliant.
All equipment needed to process, evaluate, freeze and store samples are located in-house including flow cytometry units and computerized rate-controlled cryogenic planer freezers.
Our cord blood units are not exposed to the environment, minimizing any potential for contamination.
Two “closed system” technologies are used to process cord blood at Cells for Life’s laboratory.
The samples are further protected by processing within biological safety cabinets inside of HEPA-filtered laboratories.
Our cord tissue samples are processed using patented, state-of-the-art TRT (Tissue Regeneration Therapeutics Inc.) technologies. TRT is a superior method which safely isolates and stores the cord tissue cells that matter most, un-manipulated MSC’s. We feel that this is the only process available which meets Cells for Life’s high quality standards.
Cells for Life’s vapour-phase storage tanks are considered the most efficient and safest on the market because they effectively maintain constant temperatures during storage. This combined with over-wrapped cryobags and closed processing systems employed by Cells for Life ensures the safety and protection of every sample.
Stem cell freezing is done using a controlled rate freezer. A specially designed freezing profile is used to control the rate at which the temperature declines to the cryo-preserved state. This process ensures the maximum safety and survival of the stem cells.This equipment is not available in every laboratory.
At Cells for Life we have three computerized controlled rate freezers available.
We store stem cells in over-wrapped cryobags.
Storing in cryobags is a ‘closed sytem’ which helps protect the cord blood unit from the environment during storage. As well cryobags are easier to use when the sample is needed for transplant.
Only cord blood and cord tissue is processed in our laboratories; our storage tanks are completely dedicated to cord blood and cord tissue storage.
Cells for Life uses a customized bar code system to uniquely identify each cord blood unit throughout the process.
